Events

The East Coast's 2013 Winter Lunch will be on Saturday 2 March. As previously, it will be as guests of the Haven Ports Yacht Club at Levington Marina on the River Orwell. We assemble at 12 noon. It is a very friendly pub lunch which is always good fun in good company so please do come if you can. 3,4,5 May: Rendezvous in Cherbourg – weather permitting. Will identify alternative location in the Solent in the event of an adverse forecast.

21-22 Sep: Combined meet with CA Solent section at Gins Farm, Beaulieu

23 Nov: Laying Up Supper, RAFYC

We were able to set up a Sunday lunch at the Royal Western YC in Plymouth on November 18th 2012. In spite of the rather short notice, twelve members were able to attend and we enjoyed a warm welcome from the RWYC, good food and good company. At the event, Jeremy Lenton (R34 Tantine) offered to step in as the new local VP.

Ian Binnie reports that he has arranged the use of the Barbeques at Loch Aline for the weekend of the 26^th and 27^th May 2012. The meet can anchor adjacent to the old boathouse at the end of the loch on the south east side and he will start the barbeques late afternoon. Ian will send directions later and can be contacted by email.

4/5/6 May - Rival regatta yacht harbour De Blocq van Kuffeler (IJsselmeer near Almere-Haven). Saturday 5 May ships regatta followed by barbecue in the harbour. Sunday 6 May walk in the morning and coffe/tea together; afterwards sailing home.

3 or 4 November - Scheveningen. Short presentations by members and dinner. This will be not a sailing event. We hope that members from Belgium, Germany and the UK will join us - you will be welcome !

We are spread quite far and wide with members on both the East Coast and West Coast, the Great Lakes, and British Columbia. Because of the distances separating us, we have not made plans for a rally this year, but I am open to suggestions and ideas how to better become interactive. Perhaps some regional "drive-in" meets are in order. Please let me (Rob Johnson) have your ideas.
