 ROA Spring 2002 Yealm Meet

The West Country's start-of-season meet was a great success, with 32 people from 13 yachts present at an excellent dinner at the Yealm Yacht Club. It was lucky that we had not opted for a pontoon party, as we had steady rain during the Saturday afternoon, when most of the yachts arrived. Sunday morning was perfect, though conditions were forecast to deteriorate later, and so the Rivals with the furthest to go, around Start Point or to the Fal, made early departures.

We were pleased to have visitors. A Bowman 36, Burlesque came in company with R32 Pavlova (Malcolm Conyers). Peter Middleton brought R36 Preshaw Dreamer from the Solent, with Jane Ashe as crew - which forced us to behave, in the presence of our President! Ernie Rowe and his wife came from Weymouth in R34 Tenacity II.
